Reno calls the Nevada desert home. It is a small city that is not quite as big as its close neighbor, Las Vegas. Still, Reno still has great opportunities for gambling like Las Vegas. Also, Reno offers a an extensive variety of entertainment and attractions that have nothing to do with gambling. Set your sights on Reno for not only its gambling, but its exciting entertainment as well. One of the most notable features that the Reno area has to offer is of course Lake Tahoe. Visitors love traveling around the 72 miles of shoreline of this desert lake. With features like camping, hiking and a host of other outdoor activities to choose from, Lake Tahoe remains an excellent place to spend the rest of your vacation should you lose your shirt on the first night in the Reno casinos! Nearby Reno is Virginia City. Virginia City is the place of where Mark Twain wrote "Territorial Enterprise". It is a greatly visited area by Reno. There are a bevy of museums to take in, mines to discover, and the temperature is much more suitable because it is cooler. Looking for fun, wet, wild activities? Head to Wild Waters in Sparks. It is easily accessed from Interstate 80. Wild Waters offers activities that the entire family will enjoy. You can play miniature golf or race go-karts. Delicious food is available at Wild Waters. Wish to see a Reno area attraction that is off the beaten road? Spend some time in Whitewater Park on the Truckee. It was built for kayakers by the city of Reno. It goes through the downtown area, so you can quickly get started kayaking. You can also take a relaxing stroll along the water. There are more water areas to see in the Reno area like Pyramid Lake. You can see Pyramid Lake by spending time on the boat, lounging at the beach, or taking a picnic by the shoreline. There are plenty of fun outdoor activities to take advantage of while you are touring the Reno area. But, for a more cultured experience in Reno, there are options for those with the most discerning of tastes. Reno is host to a large number of art galleries and studios. All along 1st Street, California Avenue, and South Virginia Street, these galleries offer any art lover a true paradise and a chance to sample some authentic Southwestern art. Of course, they also display and sell art from all corners of the world, but it is nice to get a feel for the local culture as well. If you want to head the more traditional activity route, you can spend time in the Reno casinos. Wedding services such as chapels are available just like they are in Las Vegas.
