There are many ways that we use aluminum in our industries. From engineering to making artificial gems, there are so many uses of this versatile metal that it is impossible to list them all. It is available all over the world and is used as a cost effective substance in almost everything we use. Most of the aluminum metals we use now are alloys. This is to add strength to the metal. Aluminium oxide is a chemical compound or combination of aluminium and oxygen. Like aluminium, aluminium oxide is a very good thermal and chemical insulator. It can withhold and tolerate a lot of heat. It is a very hard substance and is used as an abrasive and cutting tool, in mining and polishing. Its most common use is for repairing DVD kits. It is also used as a coating for metal lamps. It reacts with oxygen almost immediately forming a very thin layer of oxide on the top, which prevents the aluminium from weathering further. It is also known as alumina. Aluminium bronzes also protect the aluminium from corrosion. Aluminum has vast usage in the water treatment industry. For water treatment, aluminum sulphate is made using aluminum hydroxide. Zeolites, fire retardants and titania pigments are also made from this. Styrene and Polystyrene are made from aluminum chloride, which is used to make detergents. Aluminium sulphate is used extensively in the chemical industry. It isalso used to purify drinking water, waste water and as a mordant in printing and dying textiles. Many times it acts as a fertilizer to make the soil more acidic. It is an excellent conductor of heat, thus it is widely used to manufacture machines. Aluminium is an excellent metal to make drinking cans, which is very cost effective. The best part about aluminium is that it can be recycled into cans or useful aluminium material, which conserves energy. Aluminum foil is another widely used aluminum product. Aluminum foil is inevitable in cooking usages. You can keep your bread roll hot by placing an aluminum foil under the napkin. If you want to get rid of the rust of your car put coke on wrinkly aluminum foil. For a warm sizzle in the chilly winter nights envelope a durable aluminum foil around a piece of insulation board and keep that behind the radiators and the baseboard heaters. If you want to make your outside light more gleaming place an aluminum foil on its back. As you can see there are many uses for aluminum in industry, our homes and vechicles, plus much more. It is indeed the worldˇ¦s most versatile metal and effects 60% of the worldˇ¦s economy. Itˇ¦s value has only been discovered during the last 150 years although it has been used by the Chinese since 300 AD. Aluminum is certainly an element that effects almost every aspect of our lives.
