By: Pedro Crandosi

Child is a country full of amazing attractions and adventures. This rugged and wild country, found on the west coast of South America, exudes a soft elegance that makes it a fascinating vacation spot for tourists everywhere.

The nature that can be found in Chile is breathtaking. If you love adventure you won't be disappointed as you view craggy mountains, deserted beaches, overgrown forests, and spouting geysers. For the less adventurous there is the magnetism of the urban city of Santiago, with its population of five million.

The Chilean culture is amazing, although Chile is one of the lesser known countries of South America. Chile has a strong European influence which makes it even more appealing to tourists from the west. Parts of Sanitago seem to have a Parisian theme, perhaps due to the education of important Chileans for some many centuries. This French influence can be found in the art, architecture, and music of many parts of the country.

Arts and literature are strong and growing in Chile. The Nobel Prize for literature has twice been brought home to the country of Chile, first by poet Gabriela Mistral, and second by another poet, Pablo Neruda. Music is no forgotten art in Chile, and folk music has long been the release in which the people of Chile have been able to express their feelings after being oppressed by the military coup that occurred in 1973.

On your visit to Chile, don't just limit yourself to spending time in Santiago. Besides Santiago, there are other cities that are lovely and thriving. Don't forget to check out the nearby islands. One such island, Chiloe, is only thirty-one miles wide and 112 miles long, but is a beacon of incredible beauty. You can reach Chiloe via a ferry from the mainland. The island is home to several small villages and towns. The inhabitants of these villages build their homes on stilts due to the rain that falls in this area. Don't forget to bring your camera. You'll want pictures to remember the breathtaking site of volcanoes on the mainland that can be seen from this island paradise.

Torres del Paine National Park is another place which should be included in your must visit list. This park allows you enjoy nature in its pure form. Known as a biosphere park, this offers you the experience of waterfalls and glaciers. You can also have fun wandering though the strange and thick forests.

After a busy day sightseeing or looking for adventure you'll want to sit back and enjoy the cuisine of Chile, which includes a huge selection of seafood, beef, fruits, and vegetables. Popular snacks, which can be found on all corners of the streets in Santiago, are "empanadas". Empanadas are turnovers that are filled with a selection of fillings. Another snack is called "humitas", which are known to westerners as corn tamales.

Chileans favorite and staple food is the bread, and therefore a bread lover can have a variety of breads to choose from. The potato bread is the most preferred among Chileans. Lomo a lo pobre is the most popular meal of the Chileans and the tourists as well. Lomo a lo pobre is prepared with a large piece of beef with two fried eggs on top of it and served with chips.

Chile is a land filled with fun and excitement. It's an amazing part of the world to visit and sightsee.
